New York is set to launch a new sky observation deck, Edge at Hudson Yards. Announced as the Western Hemisphere’s highest outdoor observation deck, Edge will open to the public on March 11, 2020 offering visitors the opportunity view never before seen 360 degree views of New York City.

Piercing the sky at a soaring 100 floors from its record-setting height of 345 metres, Edge will enable outstanding views of Manhattan, Western New Jersey and New York State spanning up to 120km. Similar in concept to Melbourne’s The Edge Experience at the Eureka Tower, visitors to the Edge at Hudson Yards can experience some gut wrenching delights such as leaning to view the city up against angled glass walls or stepping out onto the glass floor 100 stories up, or taking in the view of the outdoor skyline steps rising even higher.

The Edge Glass Floor

The entire experience is designed to inspire visitors and ignite a new passion for New York City with multiple, built-in thrill elements that ensure Edge becomes a must-see local attraction and a top spot on every travellers’ bucket list.’

A champagne bar, located on the one hundredth floor, will offer a selection of premium French sparkling offerings as well as signature cocktails and a light meals that can be enjoyed indoors or outdoors on the sky deck.

The Edge – South View

Designed by William Pedersen and Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) and extending out 80 feet from the one hundredth floor of 30 Hudson Yards, Edge is big enough to redefines the New York skyline. Considered a significant feat of engineering and structural design, the 346 tonne observation deck is comprised of 15 sections, each weighing between 15 and 45 tonne, all bolted together and anchored to the east and south sides of the building. In total the deck will provide close to 700 square metres of outdoor viewing space.
