Over the past three years the Snowline Hotel Harrietville’s head chef Kurt Adam has steered its menu from award-winning ‘parma’ palace to a newly evolving Melbourne gastro pub-deluxe offering.

Essentials recently dropped in to sample some new plates including the impressive and oh-so-tasty venison burger (pictured), marrying the best in High Country venison and pork to craft a succulent and flavour-packed bite. Complete with a twin layering of cheeses – doesn’t it just look the business? – this burger comes garnished to perfection with American mustard, smoked mayo, white onions and cornichons.

Also on the menu are smaller plates such as the  southern fried chicken with chipotle mayo, grilled haloumi with eggplant kasundi and lemon, and jalapeño and cheddar croquettes. Larger plates include a first-rate Black Angus scotch fillet with bone marrow butter and jus, and unforgettably more-ish BBQ Korean chicken. To complement the food the Snowline features an extensive list of favourite local wines from the King Valley to Rutherglen.

Owner Bennett Mountjoy says his passion for local craft beers has led the venue to become ‘a craft beer tap-house of sorts’ with as many as eight local beers on tap and an extensive range of Australia’s best craft beers in the fridge.
