Alex Smit’s Murray bank River Deck Café has helped put Albury NSW back on the culinary map. The redeveloped café-restaurant and hole in the wall kiosk-styled servery attracted the hordes, young and old, throughout the 2015-16 summer season. Its indoor and alfresco deck bistro offers consistent dining appeal, featuring flavoursome dishes plated up by well-respected locally known chef Ludovic Baulacky, former head chef of the Stanley Pub and Oscar W’s Echuca, where he was awarded a prestigious GFG one chef’s hat.

Ludovic’s attention to detail in delivering expertly cooked plates such as the Tallangatta Valley lamb loin and cutlet with fennel, radish, parsley and olive powder is matched by impressive table service and overall polished flair.

The venue has been rebuilt from the ground up. The right ingredients for success – quality staff training, premium local produce and a desire to impress – have ensured all the hard work by Alex and his team has paid off. Drop in to admire River Deck’s sleek interior, with Scandinavian  furnishings and blond woodwork, then sample the handsome wine list, and you may agree that Albury is back on the must-visit destination list.
