It is based in Victoria but is a global citizen. Essentials celebrates the best the world can offer but enjoys simple home comforts. It extols Australia’s beauty and the bounty of its rich countryside, while appreciating artistic endeavour and sophisticated travel experiences.
When you read Essentials you take part in a journey of discovery and share the writers’ passion for the key ingredients of a great life: family, friends, food and wine, art and the spirit of community that strengthens humanity. Essentials’ mission is to help you reflect on the simple pleasures that make life special.
The magazine launches nationally on April 20. Essentials promises to deliver a magazine that showcases the best of Australian food, wine, art and travel, promoting this country’s artisan producers across the nation and around the world.

Essentials was born in North East Victoria and the pristine King Valley, a region that ranks as one of the world’s premier food and wine producers, building on rich soils, crystal clear water and a community with farming in its blood.
As Essentials grew over the past decade it has supported and nurtured small artisan food and wine producers, many of them family businesses, in a quest to identify and promote Australia’s best.
We understood their struggle. Like them we succeeded by being nimble and adapting quickly to changing business conditions.
As a photographer, writer and musician, this was new territory for me, but we’ve grown together.
This is an exciting time for independent magazines in Australia. Essentials has been able to attract a discerning national audience by delivering quality editorial content and brilliant graphics from an energetic team of acclaimed journalists, photographers and creatives.

We’ve attracted advertising from international players including the Angleterre Hotel in St Petersburg, Design Hotels (Europe) and the elite Winged Foot Golf Club of New York. This year Essentials will work closely with the Costa Brava – Girona Tourism Board and the renowned Roca brothers to promote the region’s World Heritage listing. The Roca’s El Celler de Can Roca was ranked #3 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants this year.
